Fallout 3: A Truly Epic Game

Filed in archive Game Reviews on April 25, 2010

The world of Fallout is expanding with its third installment, Fallout 3. The game is centered around you in a post-apocalyptic world labeled "Capital Wasteland", you are safe and secure in Vault 101, one of the only vaults still sealed off to the radiated world. But all of that changes when you find out that your dad has left the vault and stirred up heaps of trouble. So, as his loving son/daughter, you decide to search for him out in the unknown.

From the point you leave the vault, you are bombarded by enemies and allies alike. You decide who you want to be based on a point scale called "Karma". Good and bad karma dictates other character's perspective of you. The story for this game is massive, and definitely not worth being spoiled. But, in a way, you are in control of the events that take place through your characters adventure and dialogue.

I loved this game and found it incredibly addicting. Other reviews on PlayStation's website generally said the same thing. The graphics were amazing; a beautiful portrayal of decayed beauty. I made my character a hardcore badass without meaning to initially, but road the train down bad karma til the very end.

The availability of perks was a great addition to the game. Of course, like many of the Fallout junkies, I had the Blood and Gore perk, which made everybody I kill explode upon impact and spray blood everywhere. It got a little annoying after a while, but when I first got the game I was ooohs and aaahhhs with every kill.

Once you get through the entire story, it is very easy to start again and take part in a completely different story. The dynamics of gameplay make all the difference every time you pick up the controller to take a venture to zombieland. Enemy spawn points are random, so you don't come across the same roaming pack of raiders every time you grab a Nuka-Cola.

This game is definitely worth dropping $60, and won't leave you hanging. The storyline is great, the game is literally action packed and randomly delicious.
